Papillomas on the body are benign formations that are contagious. There are mainly 16 and 18 strains that tend to degenerate into malignant forms (more than 100 are known in total). Warts and papillomas are synonymous.
Features of this disease:
- It occurs in people of any age, mainly in women (1. 5 times as many cases as in men).
- Infection occurs through household or sexual contact. Because the virus does not have a strong effect on the immune system, it went unnoticed for a long time. Furthermore, upon introduction of the genome, only the viral DNA remains, not the virus itself (which is almost impossible to remove).
- There are many vaccines designed to reduce infection and reduce susceptibility to viral agents.
- Immunity developed after infection is type-specific, non-crossover, non-stress, and low, which means the possibility of re-infection.
reason
The main cause of papilloma in the body is the human papilloma virus (HPV, papillomavirus). It belongs to the DNA-containing virus, which explains its ability to integrate into the human genome and change its structure. The virus enters the blood through microinjury and deposits in the basal layer of the epidermis. Divide occurs only at the level of the germ layer, the virus can be detected in the rest, but there is no division at these levels.
The disease has several clinical forms:
- Obvious - people with weakened immunity initially contract the virus;
- Subclinical - a form in which this pathological manifestation occurs periodically, with subsequent long-term recurrence;
- Latent - a form associated with direct integration of the virus into the genome (vector).
Predisposing factors for tumorigenesis:
- Skin damage. The virus cannot enter the bloodstream without minimal damage to the skin, which is the entry point for infection.
- decrease in immunity. HPV can be attributed to opportunistic pathogenic viruses, which make them dangerous to humans in situations where normal cellular or humoral immune responses are suppressed.
- Failure to observe hygiene regulations when visiting public places. The virus is contagious and infection can occur even at low concentrations in the environment.
- Violations of normal diet, constant stress and lack of proper rest can cause the immune system to become suppressed and the body to become vulnerable to pathogens.
- Frequent inflammation and infectious diseases can deplete the immune system (this is especially important for people who are often sick).
- HPV can also be passed from mother to child at birth (vertical transmission).
external performance
The appearance of papilloma in the photo has the following characteristics:
- Multiple structures protruding above the surface of the skin. They can take the form of typical warts (flat lesions on a wide stalk) or have a thin stalk and hang from the skin like a cockscomb.
- Color rarely differs from surrounding tissue. The exception is the case of formation sprouting in the superficial vascular network, in which case it acquires a reddish color. A rapid change in color heralds a possible rebirth (differentiation from the mole is also carried out).
- Contours are usually even and clear. The exception is formations that have degenerated into tumors.
- The surface is usually smooth and somewhat shiny. In the case of the location of the upper eyelid, neck, armpit area, the surface is usually uneven, with cauliflower-like pointed bumps.
- Small lesions ranging in diameter from a few millimeters to 1-2 centimeters, in the same part of the human body, formations of different calibers may appear. If the papilloma grows too fast, you need to consult your doctor.
How to get rid of papilloma
Treatment of body papillomas is performed according to a single regimen, regardless of precise localization (for each specific type, there is an optimal option or combination):
- Destructive methods (physical and chemical).
- Combination techniques (simultaneous action of topical drugs and destructive treatment regimens).
Treatment of papilloma with cytotoxic and immunological agents is permitted only in the case of a full course (papillomatosis, i. e. a large number of papillomas on the body). In the case of single dosage forms, this treatment is not performed due to the large number of side effects and cross-reactions of these groups of drugs.
Destruction method
Destructive treatment options are the same for all types of skin lesions caused by HPV. They are divided into physical and chemical.
Physical destruction method:
method | describe |
---|---|
coagulation | The cambium is severed from healthy skin (a fairly deep defect can form that heals over time). In the case of deeper lesions, it is performed with lidocaine solution (2%) under local anesthesia. For this, needle electrodes are used. |
Freeze damage | Typically liquid nitrogen, nitrous oxide or carbon dioxide is used. The choice of exposure time should take into account the location and extent of the lesion. Usually several sessions are required, with a frequency of 7-10 days. |
laser damage | Skin tumors are removed layer by layer using a focused beam of specific waves. On average, exposure can last from 5 seconds to 3 minutes, depending on the extent of the lesion. As a result, scabs appear at the lesion site. Subsequently, dressings are required until the wound heals. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia. |
radiosurgical destruction | The formation is destroyed by electromagnetic waves in the range of 100 kHz to 105 MHz. In this case, the tissue is heated and localized necrosis occurs (suitable for removal of small lesions). |
folk remedies
At home, it is possible to get rid of growths with traditional medicines, but it should be remembered that their effectiveness is low. In addition, prior to initiating such treatment, consultation with a specialist is required in order to differentiate papilloma from many other skin diseases with similar presentations.

---|---|
celandine juice | Take the fresh juice and smash the stem of the plant, wipe the affected area 3-5 times a day for 10 days. |
potato juice | Grind raw potatoes into a paste, then squeeze and wipe the formation with the resulting juice 2-3 times a day. The course of treatment is 4-5 weeks. |
onion juice | Chop 1 onion and press down slightly until juices appear. Apply the resulting serum to the focus for 10-15 minutes, 2-3 times a day. Treatment should be carried out for 3 weeks. |
Calendula | Mash a few flowers in a mortar, apply the resulting mixture to the affected area and set for 30 minutes. Repeat the process for 21 days in the morning and evening. |
